This is the famous Suspense broadcast Sorry, Wrong Number. The recording is the initial broadcast of 1943-05-25.
Contrary to the myths built up around this episode, Suspense was broadcast nationally, and did not have separate east and west broadcasts.
There is a missed cue near the end of the broadcast, but it does not really affect the ending. Spoiler alert: Mrs. Leona Stevenson is still dead.
The story and its ending was very different from what was typically on the air at that time. Most dramas had happy endings. This is a dark ending where no one comes to rescue a bed-ridden woman, murdered by a killer hired by her husband. This ending is what really rattled the audience.
Agnes Moorehead repeated the role on Suspense numerous times. It has been called the "greatest radio script of all time."
The document debunks the many myths of the broadcast, especially the one about a west coast performance that did not have a "flub." Suspense had only one national broadcast at that time of the series history.
